Baby Mexican Free-Tailed BatsThese Mexican Free-Tailed Bat babies came to LTWC in summer 2007. They are a few of about 200 baby bats that were rescued from the Sacramento area and distributed to nearby wildlife rehab organizations. This photo shows how the bats are fed. The babies are wrapped in individual paper towels and placed in a row inside a folded towel so that only their heads peak out. The spongey part of a clean eyeshadow applicator is placed in the baby's mouth and a wildlife rehabber drops formula onto the sponge, allowing the baby to suckle like they would in the wild. |
