Baby Mexican Free-Tailed Bats

Previous | Photo Gallery | Next

These Mexican Free-Tailed Bat babies came to LTWC in summer 2007. This photo shows a close-up of the babies eating. To feed the babies, a wildlife rehabber places the sponge of an eyeshadow applicator in each baby's mouth, and drops formula onto it.

Bats can consume up to 1,000 insects, including mosquitos, an hour, which makes them extremely beneficial to humans.
