August 2007: The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office is reporting an increase in the number of nuisance bear reports this month. This increase is likely a direct result of the Angora fire, which displaced many bears, and drought conditions, which have diminished mountain streams, causing bears to look for water elsewhere.
If you have a nuisance bear in your home or on your property, please call LTWC at (530) 577-CARE (2273) or the BEAR LEAGUE at (530) 525-PAWS (7297).
Help keep bears wild and out of your home and property by keeping all food - including trash, pet food and birdseed - where bears can't get to it.
