Toys are an integral part in rehabilitation, as well as recovery.  If the little cubs (or pups, or whatever we have) don't have something to play with, it makes the rehabilitation part more difficult.  Toys give them something to do and keep their mind active.  In this case, Smokey has a football.  However.  This is not just a normal, regulation, NFL football.  This football can be hung from a higher point, so Smokey can bat it around and it will move, swing and make him react.  Any NFL team need a center?  Chicago BEARS maybe?
